This afternoon I stopped off at Starbucks to get a much needed boost of caffeine to survive the remainder of the day. I stood there idle at the counter, and generously allowed my brain time to process what I should get. Cold day serum? A pep talk? The naughty girl? The line behind me began to grow along with the barista's lack of patience, as evidenced by the rolling of her eyes and other blank stares. I finally order a naughty girl and rummage through my purse for my wallet. Now I'm rushing, I'm fumbling and the contents of my purse began to pour out onto the floor.
A kindly man standing in line behind me helped me pick up my lipgloss and post its for meetings I was already late for. Then he waved a packet of sugar in front of my face and said, "Oh lookey there, you've done dropped your name tag."
I smiled, told him that was the sweetest thing I'd heard all darn day and totally bought his coffee.
