It's no secret that I'm addicted to Fall fashion like a complete heroin fiend who never goes to rehab. With the intent of descending into a downward fashion spiral, here's a quick and dirty on my latest urges/splurges/sins:
The Stems: Chocolate and Cream carved out wing tips, 3 inch heel. (Inspired by Jerri's complete style smackdown at the Brown Palace a few weeks ago.) I paired them with nude Vera Wang fishnets when I couldn't locate Jerri's hip nude and white zigzags from Ann Taylor.
The Dress: Cranberry and navy capelets from Express are on fire as are the red suede or shiny trench dresses from Vera. I'm nostalgic about the large plaid printed mini skirts, layered black lace ruffled tops from Bebe and the multi colored fishnets from the local costume shop. Structured suits, crisp white shirts and even sculpted vests are making a comeback. I'm working to be less into labels these days and more into creating substance/craziness with pieces that keep em' guessing. Everyone loves to hate a quirky element of upset, so I include it as often as I can. You can't be afraid to clash (florals and geometrics?) and always use pieces and accessories in a manner for which they were never intended. Could be good.
The Eyes have it: MAC Rice paper (or MAC Canvas Paint) as an all-over base (with MAC 252 brush), MAC Stomp in the crease (with MAC 217 brush) and MAC Top Hat (with the 217 again) in the outer to mid corner (with Laura Mercier Pony brush). Finish with MAC Macroviolet fluidline for top liner (MAC 209 brush) and an inner tight line in Navy Dry-to-Wet Mercier Liner (Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner brush) Blend with the 217 or Pony very well for a day look, or deposit color with the MAC 252 for an eclectic and super fun evening look. Beauty can be so calculating.
The Lips: Start with MAC DIM (Lip Erase Lip Balm) from the Vegas Pro Store. Sketch out some super kissable smackers with a lip liner (I've been using CG Smoothers in Plum) and use a lip brush (you have so much more control this way) to fill in with a lip color. I've been abusing MAC's Burnin' for weeks now and helped recover my old Goth image at the NIN concert a few nights ago at Red Rocks. Finish with a gloss in the center of your pout if you wanna glam it up, I use an old trusted fave, MAC's Ebbtide Lipglass.
The Other Coveted Obsessions: MAC's Raven Eyeliner, Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with pomegranate oil, Candie's Python, Silver Metallic and Cream open toed stilettos. Completely hot additions. Add to that a case or two of Rocca Family Vineyard's 2005 Bad Boy Red and a nice set of Riedel's (think something easy like Vinum or Flow series) to entertain with. Go absolutely insane with a set of Sommellier Black Tie glasses to pair with gorgeous wines that are reserved for those very private, intimate occasions.
What's on your list this season? Inspire me. Call me. We'll shop.
Style and shopping aside though, just go do what makes you happy. Being a shopaholic can only accomplish so much. Not that I'm complaining or anything. *smirk*
